Which floor vents work with LVP flooring?Updated 4 months ago

Your contractor or manufacturer for the flooring that you use may recommend installing floating floors with a gap around the perimeter to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction. Some point to this as a reason why they shouldn't be installed with our Flush Floor Vents.

However, it's not likely to have an effect and doesn't necessarily preclude their installation with floating floors and if there is any doubt, our Framed Floor Vents may be the better alternative.

If you decide to install our Flush Floor Vents with floating floors, it helps to install them with some ability to shift with the floor. This can be done by...

  • Not fastening the base frame to the subfloor.

  • Rather than screwing the body to the base frame, fastening it with an industrial adhesive or using a spacer under the body to support it within the base frame.

  • If for some reason the vent can't be installed with some movement, some tolerance around the perimeter of the vent can be added by cutting the hole in the floor slightly bigger. We see this as a last resort since it can have an impact of the cleanliness of the install.
